'Glimpse of Journey' An Exhibition of Works on paper by Subrata Mete

"Glimpse of a Journey" is an exhumation that features artworks by Subrata Mete, whose  journey as an artist started at Kala-Bhawan, Visva- Bharati University Santiniketan, West Bengal, Where he studied art and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in painting. Based in Delhi, he has shown his works in over 30 group and two-person exhibitions in India and abroad and has participated in several art camps and workshops over the years. 

The present collection show his interests in different genres, subjects and themes which have influenced his style and inspired him to explore and transform his ideas and subjects leading to the evolution for the visual forms and  idioms in his works over time. Born and raised in rural Bengal Subrata believes in handling subjects which are known to him, intimate to him; subjects that portray his world but  would have an appeal which is universal. His works demonstrate his interest in the strong, expressive and rhythmic lines and bright intensified palette of Indian painting tradition, especially our folk and traditional painting.
